Even after a full week of work, things at the Humphreys House look as if little progress was made. In reality, though, a lot of work was done recently, but most of it was reframing underneath the home. That sures up the structure to move forward.

Now into our second month of renovations at the Humphreys House in Berlin, we’ve already done more demolition than we originally expected. Turns out that when you’re renovating an old home, you often don't know what you have ahead of you until you break down a couple walls.
The kitchen and bathrooms are now stripped of their old walls, flooring and fixtures, and we are moving onto the rebuilding phase. Walls are being altered, moved, opened and closed.

We have owned the Humphreys House on Baker Street for six weeks now, and we are full on into the renovation. Panic and fear have set in, but maybe they are typical in a project such as this.

No natural disasters, or tragic losses this week. Looking ahead to the hard work still to do. We have had good discoveries, and bad. Breaking down the wall from the kitchen to the dining room, to open the back stairwell, we found some termite damage, albeit old damage, but termite damage nonetheless. When word got out that we had purchased the Humphreys House, we heard from many in town about the possibility to find treasure in the old home. Just after 9:30am on a sunny August morning, a young boy
clad in a life jacket, rode in his first wave of the day—with a professional
surfer standing behind him on the longboard.

the USS Arthur W. Radford sank quickly to its resting place at the bottom of

The Dew Tour was in town this past weekend, if you hadn't noticed the huge vert ramp and stands constructed on the beach in downtown Ocean City, MD. As a beach town, we are already familiarized with the surf & skate lifestyle, but we were inundated with athletes and fans alike riding their bikes and boards. I remember the day I was exposed to Ska, an infectiously fun style of music that makes you move. Back in the 90's during college, going to see The Toasters, Reel Big Fish, Spring Heeled Jack and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were influential shows in my life. More recently I have come to appreciate reggae, as many of the beach bars locally have reggae bands perform. We planted a very small garden of our own this year, using heirloom plants that we bought from the Good Farm's plant sale this spring. Lemon basil, 2 types of heirloom tomatos, white cucumber, and some type of melon. They have made it through this dry spring, and are currently thriving. Spent the weekend weeding and watering, and that is such a good feeling! I never thought that gardening could be so meditative. Getting the dirt under your nails, and sweating as much as I did, changed my...READ POST.
